It has taken around 10 years for my life to feel closely attuned to the lunar cycle. I can feel her shifts at a micro level now, and the full and new moons so clearly. I don’t need to look at a calendar, or google it.

That feels exciting, because I have re-trained my whole self to remember what it is like to live in rythmn with a force of nature, not numbers on a page, but the pull of a cosmic force.

Not human-made clocks, but my body clock. The ‘body clock’ of the universe.

  • It begins with reading about or listening to what others have to say about their experiences.

  • Writing down in my journal where the moon is in her cycle, and where I am in mine.

  • Pulling a card a day for the whole of the lunar cycle. This deck was transformative for me.

  • Noticing the moon in the sky, and speaking to her. (Don’t tell me you don’t do this).

As Mary Oliver writes in Praying:

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

  • Feeling how it feels to be affected by lunar energy - sometimes it’s obvious, sometimes subtler. The full moon at Samhain 2021 is forever etched on my womb as I spent it in a static caravan with a WILD storm raging, a painful bleed arriving early, and pretty much zero sleep all night. OBVIOUS.

  • Changing my behaviours in response to where the sun, moon and planets are. Changing my daily habits, rituals, rhythms and work. The things I do and don’t do. The ways I move, wash, eat, dress, the music and podcasts I listen to. What I read, who I spend time with… EMBODIED.

Over time, with intention, repetition and sharing with others, I can now confidently say that all of these different ways of connecting to the moon have become embodied.

By this I mean, I don’t have to have the thought process - if it’s the full moon then how should I act? - I am already there. Sensing my way there. Intuiting my way to a response.

I’m day 7 and I am a devotee to human relating. Libra falls in my 12th house, obviously today I woke easily at 5.45am and needed to move my body, in silence, go to the stones, and let the downloads happen as they happen. I’m also reading a book about death… That sky though. That sky. Can you hear the skylarks?! I did. Praise be.

Understanding the astrological archetypes, how they change and flow through the year, the balance between the sun season and the moon season adds another layer.

That took a few years to embody too!

And the best bit? It is always new. Each month another layer.

I love to learn. For the first 20 years of my life, I dedicated myself to intellectual learning. That’s still there, but feeling new understandings in the body is something I feel so grateful for. It means that I’m no longer only showing up with a collection of ideas to discuss, I’m showing up with some knowings to share. May this deepen and widen for the next 20 years.

The full moon is a peak. An ovulation point. An orgasm. A pause … with potency.

Do you know how that feels?

Where do you feel that in your body? Your breath?

Come a little deeper with Freyja Astrology and I as we share our perspectives on this full moon in Libra - an exploration of Venus and her themes, how this relates to our cycle connection and menstrual health, and some rituals to connect with our body’s wisdom.
